EDUCATIONAL
FACILITIES
The Hardin County Schools provide a
broad range of learning opportunities for their students. Kenton has a high school, middle
school and 6 elementary schools. Other public school systems within Hardin County include
Ada, Hardin Northern, Ridgemont, Riverdale and Upper Scioto Valley.
Academic curricula offer students opportunities to pursue general high
school as well as college preparatory course work. Extra curricular programs include
music, varsity sports and numerous academic organizations.
Ohio Hi-Point, Millstream Career Cooperative and Apollo Career Center
serve students for their last two years of high school. These schools offer numerous
vocational programs, including Adult Education Centers.
The Simon Kenton School in Kenton provides special training for
developmentally disabled children. Harco Workshop for disabled adults is located adjacent
to Simon Kenton School.
Opportunity for higher education is offered in Hardin County at Ohio
Northern University in Ada. Founded in 1871 by Henry Solomon Lehr, the University is
divided into five colleges: Arts & Sciences, Engineering, Pharmacy, Business
Administration and Law. Students have the opportunity to earn undergraduate degrees, first
level professional degrees or a law degree.
